Dhenkanal: On Monday, a VT-EUW plane crashed at Birasal airstrip in Kamakhyanagar, Odisha's Dhenkanal, critically injuring a trainee pilot.

The plane plummeted from a height of 15 feet between 2.30 and 3 p.m., according to witnesses. Kiran Malik of Maharastra, the injured pilot, was evacuated to Birasal Community Health Centre (CHC) before being transferred to Kamakshyanagar hospital.

In the plane, the trainee pilot was flying alone. He had enrolled in pilot training at the Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI). According to sources, the airfield authorities have informed GATI's headquarters in Bhubaneswar about the event.

It's worth noting that in June 2020, a two-seater plane crashed here, killing a novice pilot and her instructor.
