Property of crorepati drug smuggler confiscated in Odisha

Berhampur: The Kolkata Competent Authority has seized property worth Rs 6 crore from infamous drug lord Rajanikant Patnaik in Khallikote, Odisha's Ganjam district, including gold jewellery worth Rs 4.5 crore.
Patnaik is now serving time in prison.
Last year, Ganjam police caught Patnaik of Khojapalli village and seized Rs 75 lakh in cash, 8.5 kilogrammes of gold jewellery, 34 kilogrammes of cannabis, and 10 kilogrammes of opium from him.
According to police, he has been smuggling cannabis from Kandhamal to various locations for years, earning millions of rupees.
Patnaik ran his illegal drug business via Viswakarma Ayurvedic Private Limited, an Ayurvedic medicine company. He was also a private money lender who charged hefty interest rates on his loans.
