7 Students Hurt In School Building’s Plaster Ceiling Collapse In Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Seven pupils were hurt in a tragic incident on Friday at a primary school in the Ghatagaon block of Odisha's Keonjhar district when pieces of the ceiling fell on them.

Rajashree Nayak, Sonali Munda, Sukumari Munda, Arati Hanhaga, Janusingh Purti, Gangi Munda, and Ankita Munda are among those who have suffered injuries. The school staff hurried them to the Community Health Center (CHC). The students are no longer in danger.

According to a media report, classes had only started up again 14 days prior, following building repairs.

After the Block Education Officer (BEO) was written a letter by headmistress Abhamayi Rout, who was transferred to the Arjunbilla primary school during the COVID outbreak, warning him of the school's hazardous condition, repairs were made.

For the repairs, a budget of Rs 2.6 lakh was set aside.

The cluster resource centre coordinators Dharanidhar Mahant and Nabakrushna Rout, together with additional BEO Purushottam Dhal, arrived at the CHC to find out how the injured pupils were doing.

Dhal promised that the responsible parties would face the necessary repercussions.
