BJD leader Tejeswar Parida quits party citing personal reasons

Bhubaneswar: Tejeswar Parida, the former president of the Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board, left the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday.

He sent Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha and president of the BJD, an email announcing his resignation.

"I worked as a devoted party member and made my best effort to strengthen the party in my role as a party observer stationed in several districts and as a media panel member. In the email to the CM, he expressed his gratitude for designating him as the BJD's star campaigner and member of the election manifesto committee for the general elections in 2019.

"I express my inability to continue serving the party due to a number of urgent personal matters that need my attention and time, which I cannot overlook. Therefore, with immediate effect, I hereby tender my resignation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJDprimary )'s membership, Parida wrote.

On Friday in the late afternoon, he would join the BJP at its state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
