Woman accuses husband of selling her kidney in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A woman from Kodameta village in the Malkangiri district said that her husband had secretly sold one of her kidneys.

The woman, who has been identified as Ranjita Kundu, filed a report about this on Wednesday at Model police station in this city.

Sources claim that after Ranjita got kidney stones in 2018, Prasant Kundu, her husband, convinced her to have a blood test and drove her to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

After that, without her knowledge or agreement, he allegedly sold one of her kidneys to Asim Haldar of MV 38 hamlet in Malkangiri for transplant. She said that one of her kidneys had been removed because of "check-up reports that later disclosed it."

"My husband left me after purchasing the kidney, and now that he intends to shortly remarry, I have come to the police seeking redress. Ranjita addressed the media, saying, "I demand severe punishment for my husband and sister-in-law Seema Nandi, who was also engaged in this crime.

Sarat Buruda, a social worker who had accompanied Ranjita to the police station, reported that Prasanta had taken her against her will and used forged documents to sell one of her kidneys.
