Deogarh: After being detained by the Odisha police for allegedly operating a clinic in the village of Kadamdarh, in the state of Odisha's Deogarh district, without the required qualification, a matriculant who had been practising medicine for the previous four years had run out of luck.

He has been identified as Prashant Ray from the West Bengali village of Purbanoapara in the Nadia district.

Sources claim that Ray was detained on Wednesday after a squad of Deogarh Model Police were alerted to his illegal clinic and when Ray was unable to provide the necessary documentation, they took him into custody. Additionally, the police took thousands of rupees' worth of medications, many contraceptives, and injections from the facility.

During the investigation, it was discovered that he purchased a fraudulent "MBBS" certificate for Rs. 1,500 from a facility in Kolkata before opening a clinic in the area. "This unlawful clinic has been managed by Prashant Ray of West Bengal for the past four years. He was giving the public prescriptions for allopathic medications. According to IIC of Deogarh Model police station Surendra Kumar Naik, he has been detained and sent to court.

According to the accounts, he had further opened clinics in other outlying regions of the Jharsuguda district.
