Ganjam: In Aska in the Ganjam district of Odisha on Saturday, more than 10 schoolchildren were sent to the hospital after taking deworming pills.
According to sources, ASHA employees distributed Albendazole deworming tablets to kids in Classes I through VIII on Friday as part of a state government initiative at Jiura Government School in the Sanakhemundi Block.
Following their Saturday morning prayer, 15 of them reported experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. They were received on Saturday at the Adapada Community Health Center (CHC), where they are being cared for by a specialised medical staff. According to sources, student enrollment is increasing.
Many parents showed up at the school upset about the health of the youngsters and called the Patapur police to open an investigation. Other students are receiving full medical examinations from a group of Adapada CHC doctors.
It is important to note that on August 12, the government of Odisha began its campaign to deworm children. In honour of National Deworming Day (NDD), the Directorate of Family Welfare is offering deworming tablets and a vitamin A supplementation programme to all kids this month.
Every youngster between the ages of 1 and 19 who participates in the project will have their worms removed. Through schools and Anganwadi centres, deworming tablets are given to them.
