Bhubaneswar: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF), which is currently looking for Atiq Ahmed's fugitive aide Guddu Muslim, reportedly questioned one person in connection with the case in Bhatli, Odisha's Bargarh district.

According to sources, the individual was identified as Raja Khan, and it is believed that Guddu Muslim's driver stayed with him in Bargarh for several days following the Prayagraj incident. Raja Khan, a Sundargarh native, has been in the leather business in Bhatli.

The STF let him go after grilling on Thursday, according to the sources.

According to Bargarh SP Prahlad Sahai Meena, a 5-member STF team visited Bargarh on April 18. "The team camped for two days in Bargarh and grilled one person." We extended all cooperation in accordance with the rules. We were informed about the team's visit. They left the day before."

No one was arrested, according to the SP.

Guddu Muslim has been on the run since the Saturday night assassination of gangster-turned-politicians Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf.

Amitabh Yash, the chief of the UP STF, previously told the media that he is a feared criminal and a former professional shooter. "When Umesh Pal was murdered, I quickly identified him (Guddu Muslim) on CCTV."

He can create bombs on the fly. "Until he is apprehended, he remains a significant threat," he added.

Guddu was arrested in 1999 while smuggling drugs, but he was released on bail thanks to Atiq's lawyers. He is one of ten people charged in the Umesh Pal murder case. Six of them have been killed, and Guddu Muslim is one of four who are still on the run.

Notably, Ashraf's final words, "Main baat yeh hai ki Guddu Muslim..." before he and his brother Atiq were shot, refocused attention on the "bomb specialist."

National media reported on Thursday that the gangster had taken refuge in Odisha's Puri district. However, Puri district police denied having any knowledge of the notorious criminal's presence in the seaside town. Guddu Muslim's location has yet to be confirmed by police. "We have no information," Puri SP Vishal Singh told reporters in response to questions about the notorious criminal.

Guddu's most recent known location was Karnataka.
