Webcasting to Be Done in 50 Per cent Booths for Dhamnagar By-Poll: CEO
Bhubaneswar: According to Sushil Kumar Lohani, CEO of Odisha, elaborate plans have been made for live webcasting in 50% of the voting places for the by-election in the Dhamnagar Assembly segment.
Speaking at a news conference in Bhubaneswar, Lohani announced that on election day, November 3, webcasting would take place in 50% of the polling places and that 26 micro-observers would be stationed in the designated booths.
For the bye-election, there will be deployed approximately 1108 poll workers. Personnel working at voting places won't be locals or constituency voters to maintain fairness. He added that the same policy applies to police officers stationed in Dhamnagar as government employees.
The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) may deploy up to four companies for the bye-election, including two from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and two from the Border Security Force (BSF). Ten platoons of the Odisha Police will also be sent out.
According to Lohani, sufficient security procedures and steps have been taken to ensure peaceful voting in up to 106 key polling places. She also noted that law and order enforcement efforts have been stepped up and that 641 licenced firearms have already been deposited in police stations.
Niranjan Kumar and Pranesh Gupta, two central observers, have been designated for the bypoll. Their mobile phones are 7854826509 and 8260745626, respectively. The CEO indicated that anyone can contact them to file a complaint.
496 voters' postal ballots have been collected, and the finalised, printed, and delivered election roll. He stated that more than 2.38 lakh voters are eligible to cast ballots in the by-election.
