New Delhi: Speaking to the crowd on Friday at the launching of the nation's first indigenous aircraft carrier, "INS Vikrant," at the Kochi shipyard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, "From the seashores of Kerala, every Indian is becoming a witness today to the daybreak of a new future. This ceremony for "INS Vikrant" is an appeal for India to raise its international morale.

"Vikrant is big and imposing, distinctive, and exceptional. Vikrant is more than just a warship; it is proof of the diligence, talent, influence, and dedication of India in the twenty-first century, he continued.

Indeed, "INS Vikrant" was created with the help of manufacturers and labourers from all over the nation. Major Indian manufacturers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises supplied the materials and components for about 76% of the ship's construction (MSMEs).

The SAIL factories in Rourkela, Odisha, Bokaro, Jharkhand, and Bhilai provided the steel for the battleship.

In truth, "INS Vikrant" was built with the assistance of labourers and manufacturers from all around the country. For almost 76% of the ship's construction, significant Indian manufacturers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises provided the materials and components (MSMEs).

The steel for the battleship was produced by SAIL plants in Rourkela, Odisha; Bokaro, Jharkhand; and Bhilai.

For the battleship, SAIL provided 30,000 tonnes of speciality steel in DMR grade. For the hull and interior of the ship, DMR plates of Grade 249 A were used, and Grade 249 B for the flight deck. With the exception of bulb bars, all of the specialised steel has been provided by SAIL's integrated steel mills in Bhilai, Bokaro, and Rourkela, eliminating the need for imports.

The primary switchboard, steering mechanism, and watertight hatches were provided by the Mumbai and Pune facilities of Larsen & Toubro. The refrigeration and air conditioning systems come from Pune-based Kirloskar Group factories. The ship's pumps were supplied by Best & Crompton, a Chennai-based company.

The Integrated Platform Management System was created by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) (IPMS). The enormous gearbox for the warship was made in Gujarat by Elecon.

The hundreds of kilometres' worth of electrical wires were provided by the Nicco Group of Kolkata.

The warship was constructed for roughly Rs 20,000 crore.
