Asani Degenerates Into Cyclonic Storm

Bhubaneswar: Cyclone force winds According to the Meteorological Centre here, Asani has weakened into a cyclonic storm.
Cyclone Asani was around 40 kilometers south of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh at 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday. It is expected to move nearly northwards for the next few hours before recurving slowly north northeastwards and passing along the coasts of Machilipatnam, Narsapur, Yanam, Kakinada, Tuni, and Visakhapatnam before emerging into westcentral Bay of Bengal off the coast of north Andhra Pradesh by Wednesday night, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Due to the cylone, all schools in the Malkangiri district of Odisha will be closed on Wednesday.
By May 12, the cyclone is expected to fade into a depression.
